Fuzz Face
The Fuzz Face appeared in 1966 at Britain's Arbiter, in a round enclosure that suggests a face, and became known through Jimi Hendrix. The circuit holds just two transistors, and those set the character: germanium sounds softer and drifts with temperature, silicon is sharper and stays put. Dunlop builds the line now, alongside the original size also as a Mini in a block a quarter as large.
